Meet Our Team

Every patient is under the care of a radiation oncologist who is a cancer specialist with expertise in the application of radiation therapy as it is used in the management of cancer. In a large program such as ours, the radiation oncologists have particular expertise with specific types of cancer. This ensures that your physician is one who focuses on your specific type of cancer.

William M. Wisbeck, MD

Dr. Wisbeck is a Seattle native--born and raised in the Seattle area.  Following college, medical school and residency at the University of Washington he joined Providence Cancer Institute faculty  in 1990.  Dr. Wisbeck maintains an active interest in cancer education and research.  He served on the clinical faculty of the University of Washington School of Medicine as an assistant professor of Radiation Oncology for 18 years.  He has written numerous scientific papers, textbook chapters, and articles on topics related to cancer.

B. Sharon Cole, MD B. Sharon Cole, MD

Medical Center- Providence Campus.

Dr. Cole is from Denver, Colorado and came to Seattle in 1972.  She has practiced at Providence Seattle Medical Center and been the Medical Director of the Providence Radiation Oncology Department for 17 years.  She has served continuously on the Providence Cancer Committee and was the Radiation Safety Officer for several years.  She is currently the President-Elect of the Medical Staff of Providence Seattle Medical Center and is a member of the Credentials Committee.  She has recently been appointed to the Nominating Committee of the Washington State Medical Association.  She performed the first cardiovascular brachytherapy application in the State of Washington in October, 1997 as a Principal Investigator of the Novoste Beta-Cath Trial, and has since performed a total of 68 cases.  She helped plan and participated in a conference in May of 2000, “Vascular Brachytherapy, Are you ready?”, to help physicians and hospitals prepare to use this new technology.  Other professional interests include breast cancer treatment and stereotactic radiation.  On a personal level, she enjoys horseback riding, volunteering with homeless teenagers, coaching, sewing and travel.  In 2000, Dr. Cole was selected as a Seattle area “Top Doc”.  This honor was based on a survey of other physicians and health care providers asking whom they would want to care for their own family and friends.

Steve Adam, MD

Dr. Adam is a Seattle native who has been practicing in the Seattle area for 25 years.  He started the Prostate Brachytherapy program at Providence Seattle Medical Center.  He has special interests in prostate and breast cancer, as well as brain tumors and pediatric cancer.  Dr. Adam enjoys working with the diverse population who seek care at Providence.  He also worked on the early studies which showed the benefit of coronary artery radiation in preventing restenosis after angioplasty.

Physician Profile

Dr. Thompson is originally from Southern California.  He moved to the Pacific Northwest to pursue his Residency Training at UW and began his practice in Bellingham in 1979.  He is a well known and popular lay educator.  He has an active interest in Prostate and Breast Cancer treatments.

Dr Taylor was born and raised in Virginia.  The lure of mountains, water, and clean air brought him to the Northwest.  He enjoys the human aspects of medicine and also takes great satisfaction from developing state of the art radiation treatment programs.   He maintains active research interests in prostate and lung cancer.
